One of my biggest daily frustrations is the language. Yesterday, on my day off, I went to the store with a friend and I successfully ordered ice cream in Spanish! We’re talking good ice cream here. I had 3 scoops (all different flavors mind you), in a waffle cone, with sprinkles on top! While I was eating my ice cream I decided that even though I can’t say everything in Spanish I can at least do the important tasks, like my ice cream.

I think that the language barrier is bothering me more than the people that I am working with. Everyone has been very patient with me and reassuring that God knows all languages and therefore hears my prayers for the people, even if they don’t understand what I’m praying.

I would like to ask for your prayers with this. I am trusting that God is using me, and that He will give me the words. However, I am also very timid in attempting some things, especially prayer, in Spanish. Please pray that God would give me the courage to keep trying and to persevere through this time of learning.

  1. Tamara, I am praying that God will bless you with the ability to speak/understand more Spanish, but I also know that you already know so much. Be faithful in using what you already know, and you’ll be surprised how quickly you will learn!
