The Lord is amazing! His love and grace blow my mind over and over again. This past semester has been jam packed of His works. The doors have been opened here and hearing and growing in the word of God. Personally, I have learned so much and grown in my relationship with God. My team has been unified and moved. The people of Mexico are noticing that there is something different about us and they are yearning to have what we have!

The hospital is so close to my heart now that the days we can not go I am saddened. It is so difficult every time that we walk through the doors, but EVERY SINGLE time God uses our obedience to make something happen. Our goal each time is simply to do whatever God calls us to. To treat the people in the hospital as though they are Christ, doing whatever we can for them.

Matthew 25:35-36   “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was and stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came and visited me.”

The things that we provide most often are: games for the children in the hospital, friendship to the adults, ears to listen, and shoulders to cry on. There has not been a day yet, where when I ask ‘how are you,’ someone does not begin to cry. The problems that these people are experiencing are not minor. For the adults, their minds are not on themselves. It is either so painful to watch their children go through something so horrible, or the outside problems that seem to tear them up the most.

One man that we met had to have surgery on his arm. He had been in to hospital for three days already. His wife and five children could not come visit him because they had no way to get there (children are not allowed to visit this hospital anyway.) This man was broken because he missed his family and did not know when he would be able to see them. He was deeply concerned about his family, because when he can not work, there is no food. He kept saying over and over that adults can go a while with out eating much, but little children need food and he did not know how that food would be provided for his family. This man is Christian and was looking to God during this desperate time.

The most recent story that I have from the hospital is about a 10 month old baby that has an infection in her blood. This baby girl is adorable, she sat up and smiled at us, she giggled and was beautiful. She has one eye that has been affected by the disease and is clouded over. The story is more about her mother than about her. The mother was a 16 year old girl that was very scared about what was happening to her daughter. She had to hold her daughter as she was being given shots and she cried just as much as the baby girl. When we talked to her she desperately needed to be hugged. She soaked in every word that was said and she needed the reassurance that she is a good mother. She is young but she loves that baby so much. (16 is not young here) As I translated a prayer for her, her eyes changed from despair to the eyes of clinging on to hope.

I know that God has been using our time here for amazing things. One of the things that God has been telling me is that I have been chosen to be His disciple. He can, will, and has used me to share His love with others. I am a vessel that He can work through. I am a missionary… before I could not say these things out of disbelief in myself, but it isn’t about me any more. It’s all about God. I am forever changed and I lift up all the glory to God!

  1. Tamara!
It was awesome seeing you last week and just watching how busy you guys are everyday! It was really cool getting to know you better! I will pray for you and your flight home for Christmas!

  2. Isn’t it amazing that no matter what country they’re in, what language they speak, they/we all care deeply about our family and sometimes need a hug and a reminder that God is in control. Everything will be all right in the end.

  3. Hey girl! What a great blog. It is so awesome to hear all that God is doing and I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to witness it first hand. You have a beautiful heart and it is obvious God is using you in the hospital and local communities for His glory! I love you and hope you have an amazing time as you go home to Nebraska for Christmas! Keep in touch!

    Caroline 🙂
